The T-35 pillan is a single engine, with a variable pitch that has served Spain and its army for 33 years. When it was introduced as the instruction plane, in which every spanish army pilot would make their first flight ever, in 1987 little was known that It would last so many years and that It would start so many students off into this beautiful world the military aviation.
The tapiz (so called in the spanish army because of its ability to chose between people who excell and people who unfortunately do not) is a very capable plane and not outdated even though its production days finished in 2013. Its lycoming engine makes It capable of flying at speeds up to 311 km/h and its strong frame structure allows students to learn some advanced maneuvres and even some basic pirouettes.
Some rumours suggest its days will be over soon with the adquisition of the pilatus, wether It is true or not this plane has served Spain every single year for 33 so personally i think It deserves our respect, especially because It will be our first airplane.
