As one of the most broadly used transport airplanes
of all time, the C-130 Hercules is a medium-large sized aircraft that stands
out for its wonderful performance and capabilities for long distance travel and
high load transportation. It has been manufactured in the US for more than
fifty years now.
When talking about its appearance, the C-130
becomes highly recognizable thanks to its astonishing overall look and its pointed
nose just in front of the cockpit. This plane is propelled by four turboprop
engines that hang off both of its wings, which produce a characteristic low-rumbling
sound when flying.
Although this aircraft was built for military
use mainly, thanks to is polyvalence and endurance, it has ended up being used for
a good amount of different missions, including sanitary and civil
transportation missions, among others, by most of air forces around the world, even
the Spanish Air Force. However, there are more advanced, new versions of this
plane that make of the C-130 an even more efficient aircraft.
Summing up, this airplane gathers all the
characteristics that any air force would look up when searching for a
full-operative aircraft to put in service.
